Back in the Writing Mode :-)

So I've finished my office wall finally...well ok, it will probably NEVER be finished LOL.
But my husband finished my customized white board months ago. He worked faster to get it done hoping it would help motivate me to come back into my office / writing / reading room, and the poor thing has just been hanging there until recently.

It works great!! I bought the Expo Bright Sticks Fluorescent wet erase bullet point 'markers' and have had plot, characters and worlds sectioned out. I even wrote on the bottom of one chapter that 'I needed a bigger board' lol. He said, "There's no room for it." Next house I guess ;-)
Then my dad brought me down some Broyhill cabinets all the way from Pennsylvania. :-)
I have some stuff on the shelves, but have plans :-) I have plans :-).

My son told me my writing is no longer my 'hobby' so I needed to find another avenue to relax. He's right! Writing has not been my 'hobby' in a long time! It's a career I want to take full time and exceed at. So I've two ideas to try out to see how I like them.

1. I've decided to make a wedding album, as we've been married almost three years and I still cannot find one I like.

2. On the bottom shelf of the cabinet closest to the windows, I'm going to try my hand at constructing a Fairy Village. ( I put some of the materials and books on my Christmas wish list :-) )

And the wonderful news since last week -- I've been able to sit down and plot out two more books. I have one more to go for a series I want to do and the first manuscript is already finished.

You don't know the relief of being able to have plots flowing through my mind, that the well has opened up again and it's filling with the freshest water one could ever imagine.

NOW I KNOW I'm on the road to recovery!! And it's given me the hope that I'm going to be ok, that I can work through anything that comes up and hits me smack in the face like a wet diaper :-) LOL, YUCK!! Hahahaha.

So my office / writing / reading room is not completely finished in decor, nor will it ever be knowing me LOL. My husband is helping me pick out a comfortable chair to sit in when I don't want to be at my desk to read or write. Of course it has to be big enough for the fur baby lol. Elvis sits everywhere I do.
Elvis waiting for me to sit down and start writing :-)

He's also mentioned getting me a new chair for my desk, as I gave my newer one(the one above) to my son when his broke ;-) MOM's it's what we do LOL.

Stay well everyone and Stay Spicy!!

Office Wall - Take 4 ... Oiiii

Ok, so with my vacation from the day job, I've had some extra time to get up there and start on the decorating of my wall.

First I had to get rid of all those little bleed outs as they were seriously driving me up the 'wall' LOL.

My husband stuck his head in saying I had way more patience than him when he saw I was using a number 2 Filbert brush to tackle the little nemesis of mine. Took me over an hour.

Then I started with my Cherry Blossom branch.

Now I love painting, I find it relaxing. But I also like to have some sort of a plan.
This plan was by the seat of my pants LOL.

I couldn't find a dang cherry blossom stencil anywhere but online and that ticked me off.
I went to several 'fabric and hobby' stores in my area and let me tell you, I was highly DISAPPOINTED with the selection.
Their 'stencil' aisle contained paint, brushes and three kinds of alphabet stencils with a filigree stencil tossed in for good measure I guess.

So I was left with free handing.
Something I have not done in ... ohhhh .... 15 years or so.

So don't be too judgmental, even I know I have to get back up on the ladder today and touch up and re-position my branch and thin it out at the end a bit better.

Hey, that's the fun of it right LOL.

I'm even thinking of taking that blossom off at the end. I'm not liking the way it came out.
Maybe remove it and from there have blossoms floating like the wind is carrying them away down the rest of the wall.

I still need to add some final touches to the blossoms to make them pop a bit more.

So there you have it peeps. Stage 4 of the wall.

Now all I have to do is get Hubs to start on building me my whiteboard, so I can have my plot wall

The Office Wall Make Over - Part 3

OK, so...Grrrrrrrr Arrrrrrrrggggg!

I'm not a 'professional' painter by any means (if you can't already tell)

But I do like to paint and when I have an issue, it just ticks me off.
My son says..."lady, calm," Love my kid!

So if you've seen the other office wall makeover pics, you'll see that I used the blue painters tape to make sure everything was straight and even to prevent this...
(as I model the two pictures above with a wave of my hand) the 'feathering' or 'bleeding' of paint.
Pee'd me off  --  like, BIG TIME!
I'm like, I followed all the rules, had the painters tape, make sure it was secure and it still DOES NOT work.
Of course I do have textured walls *Sigh* some days, I just feel like I can't win.

So I went out and bought some small brushes and my son is going to help me even out the bleeding.

My husband says, I'm being to picky and looking at it to hard, it looks fine. (I think he stepped back when I shot him 'the' look LOL)

I'm like, it's not the way I want it and I'm the one who is in my office, so it's going to get straightened out. Grrrr.

So I guess we'll see how much of a steady hand my a son and I have and how much I can muck it up Hehehehehe.

Office Wall Maker Over - Part 2

OK, so the painting has begun

I'm not sure if I should be scared or excited. LOL

I love painting and am so glad my son was helping me. When I paint I seem to make a mess. I must have a damp cloth with me to erase any mistakes.
It seems, that, no. I can't stay within the lines...
LOL

I did the cutting in and he filled in the middle, with a brush mind you, he didn't want to use the roller .

So now we sit and wait for it to dry.

*Sigh* really *rolling eyes* this is like watching water boil.
...

Until Next week ...

Office Wall Makeover - Part 1

The wall makeover has begun! And as you can see my little helper is rearing to go :-) He's sitting at my back as I write. Love my little red!!

So this is the wall in my office I've decided to add a little flare and make the office my own. These off white walls do nothing for my artistic or creative side.

The function of the wall when complete is to be my plot board.
Where I can write my plot down (to get it out of my head) :-), Characters, Worlds and what ever else my story needs.

My husband is going to be helping me by making me a black white board. That's right, it's a white board but black, I can write on it with neon erasable markers. *Squeal*
He liked the idea of a chalk board, but that's not me, I like white boards, and when I found the black white board on Amazon, he looked it up and said ... 'I can make that.' WELL OK :-)
go for it hubs :-)

So this is where we are... my son helped with most of the painting :-) great kiddo I have!!

The soothing color I chose is 'Ash Violet' by Sherwin Williams.

... Until next week ...  :-)
