As Hurricane Matthew comes closer to my home here in Florida, I figured I'd get this up now as I'll probably lose power sometime Early Friday.

Astéri ~ Teaser

Teaser...

Astéri’s eye twitched as shade drew over her like an umbrella. “I know you’re not blocking out my sun on purpose.”
“Never.”
Hmmm, nice voice. The inner muscles of her pussy twitched as the male stepped to the side allowing the Balessian sun to stream down on her once again. “You’re staying because?”
“We need to talk.”
“Say that to all the naked women on Balessia, or is it just me?”
“You.”
“Why?”
“Because of what you do, who you are.”

Releasing June 7th -- Astéri - The Commander

Releasing June 7th

Independent and spirited Commander Astéri Polemisti, has had her fair share of hard knocks due to her shifting abilities. When she’s on the pleasure planet Balessia for some R&R she meets Zennu Warrior Tydenn Kerrolz, making her stay more desirable than she could have imagined.

Tydenn knew the moment he met her, he wanted Astéri for his own. Yet the politics of being a crowned prince could hinder his wants over the needs of his people. When his transport is downed from sabotage and Astéri is the Commander in charge of the rescue squad they both have secrets revealed. But can they make it out alive when her team turns out to be in on the assassination plot from the beginning?

The Werewolf’s Mate: Book 1 – Paranormal – Erotic Romance
Betrayal and fright caused her to run. A threat to her home town lures her back.

Welcome to Alston, Maine. A place where different Other Kin species have lived in peace and thrived for centuries. However, there’s one major rule: if you leave and know of a threat to the town, you must come back in person to report all details.

Woodland Fairy Kalana Fairlawn ran when she thought her soul mate, and Lyken warrior, Drake Roven, had betrayed her on the night of their first mating, leaving her pregnant and vulnerable.

Nine years later darkness emerges that could threaten the existence of Alston and all the different Other Kin species who call it home.

The Dragon’s Vamp: Book 2 – Paranormal – Erotic Romance
What does a Dragon shifter do when she’s told her soul mate has been chosen for her? Fight like hell!

Mariwen Gawain, dragon shifter and protector of Alston, trusts very few people, but when she comes back to protect her home and territory from the darkness, her body ignites with passion for Rhys Beven, the powerful vampire coven leader of Alston.

Fighting her passions and the threats to the town, Mari breaks down and gives the hot-blooded Vamp a chance.

Trust is a necessity as they combat the darkness for their town, their lives, and their love, especially when Mari charges into battle, using her dragon’s breath full force at their enemy, with Rhys right in the line of fire.

The Office Wall Make Over - Part 3

OK, so...Grrrrrrrr Arrrrrrrrggggg!

I'm not a 'professional' painter by any means (if you can't already tell)

But I do like to paint and when I have an issue, it just ticks me off.
My son says..."lady, calm," Love my kid!

So if you've seen the other office wall makeover pics, you'll see that I used the blue painters tape to make sure everything was straight and even to prevent this...
(as I model the two pictures above with a wave of my hand) the 'feathering' or 'bleeding' of paint.
Pee'd me off  --  like, BIG TIME!
I'm like, I followed all the rules, had the painters tape, make sure it was secure and it still DOES NOT work.
Of course I do have textured walls *Sigh* some days, I just feel like I can't win.

So I went out and bought some small brushes and my son is going to help me even out the bleeding.

My husband says, I'm being to picky and looking at it to hard, it looks fine. (I think he stepped back when I shot him 'the' look LOL)

I'm like, it's not the way I want it and I'm the one who is in my office, so it's going to get straightened out. Grrrr.

So I guess we'll see how much of a steady hand my a son and I have and how much I can muck it up Hehehehehe.

Office Wall Maker Over - Part 2

OK, so the painting has begun

I'm not sure if I should be scared or excited. LOL

I love painting and am so glad my son was helping me. When I paint I seem to make a mess. I must have a damp cloth with me to erase any mistakes.
It seems, that, no. I can't stay within the lines...
LOL

I did the cutting in and he filled in the middle, with a brush mind you, he didn't want to use the roller .

So now we sit and wait for it to dry.

*Sigh* really *rolling eyes* this is like watching water boil.
...

Until Next week ...

Office Wall Makeover - Part 1

The wall makeover has begun! And as you can see my little helper is rearing to go :-) He's sitting at my back as I write. Love my little red!!

So this is the wall in my office I've decided to add a little flare and make the office my own. These off white walls do nothing for my artistic or creative side.

The function of the wall when complete is to be my plot board.
Where I can write my plot down (to get it out of my head) :-), Characters, Worlds and what ever else my story needs.

My husband is going to be helping me by making me a black white board. That's right, it's a white board but black, I can write on it with neon erasable markers. *Squeal*
He liked the idea of a chalk board, but that's not me, I like white boards, and when I found the black white board on Amazon, he looked it up and said ... 'I can make that.' WELL OK :-)
go for it hubs :-)

So this is where we are... my son helped with most of the painting :-) great kiddo I have!!

The soothing color I chose is 'Ash Violet' by Sherwin Williams.

... Until next week ...  :-)

Fun Drink Friday - The Lady Edith

edith_2.jpg

Lady Edith
makes 1 cocktail

1 1/2 ounce ruby red grapefruit juice (fresh-squeezed!)
1/2 ounce sloe gin (see note)
Sweet roseé champagne, chilled, such as Ballatore Spumante Rosso
Add the grapefruit juice and sloe gin to a flute. Top with champagne. Stir and serve.
Note: Do yourself a favor and get the Plymouth sloe gin. If you can't find the Plymouth sloe gin (or another variety made with real sloes), I would recommend leaving it out altogether.

This drink was inspired by Downtown Abbey and while I have not had a chance to catch the program, this drink looks like a hoot :-)
Go read the blog at The Kitchn, it explains more about the drink and its creation.

Author Swag - Business Cards & Bookmarks...

Ok, so this will be the first blog of Author Swag...
With that said --
OMG!! How hard is it to figure out what to put in a swag bag and what 'not' to put in...good grief Charlie Brown!!
I mean seriously!! I've searched until my eyes literally glazed over from looking at the screen on my phone trying to find out what are good ideas and what are not. BUT...BUT...more importantly, WHERE TO FIND THE STUFF!

A lot of authors list what they think people like and don't like--
Example:
Tossing of: the water bottle, key chain, any paper products, coffee mugs and the list can go on...
(I can say that I brought home everyone of these items from a conference - with that...I did drive .. see below)
Displaying DSC_0616.JPG
This is my Wendi Darlin mug I brought home from the 2009 RWA conference in Orlando, FL. and yes, I'm drinking coffee out of it as I sit here blogging :-)
(And yes, that is my son's Gundam he built and another behind it he's working on :-p my desk is apparently the place to do this LOL.)

But other's say, yes, include these items...

What I've found is -- it depends on 'how' people are getting to your event.
If they're flying, yes they probably won't take anything that cannot pack down easily or get through security with no problem.

If they're driving, then a lot more may reach their destination with your items.

More importantly ... Try to give items people may want, things that they'll remember you by, make yourself stand out.
But don't put yourself in the poor house doing it!

So this blog is going to be about -
Business cards and Bookmarks.

One author suggested when making up your business cards or bookmarks (Two hot items to always have and give away)
leave an area for you to sign.
So you are in essence giving an autographed item to your 'potential' reader with your book cover on it.
I LOVE this idea!!

I will splurge on my business cards and book marks because they are items I will always have around, they'll have my book cover, blurb and contact info -- all at the ready.

Now when putting contact info down ... do not, list your phone number and address or personal email, readers do not need this information.

What they need is a way to find you on the net and your books.
... your website
... your publisher's website
... your Facebook or Twitter link.

Don't over crowd your design. If it's to busy, readers may not want to look at it, and possibly toss the item.

Here are some online printers I found ...

(They also do book marks.)
It took me a bit of searching on zazzle but if you type in..."writer author promotion book blue gradient" ... it should bring them right up, and then of course you can look through the generous selection of options.

(They do plastic business cards and they look pretty dang neat too.)

(They do all paper products including booklets, flyers ect)

Now, you have to go take a look and find out what is right for you, price wise, print wise, ect.

Hope this has helped!! And if anyone has a great place to find these items, please comment for everyone!
Thanks!!

Fun Drink Friday - Scarlet O'Hara

Scarlet O’Hara drink recipe: Southern Comfort, lime, cranberry

There are several recipes available, but the one that’s considered best uses Southern Comfort, cranberry juice and lime. The overall effect with this drink is a blend of mellow peach and tart cranberry, with an exciting touch of citrus. Definitely one to sip and savor.

Recipe

  • 2 ounces Southern Comfort
  • Dash of lime juice
  • 6 ounces cranberry juice
  • Garnish with a lime wedge
Pour the Southern Comfort, lime juice and cranberry juice into a shaker with ice, and shake well. Strain into a sour or Collins glass.

New Years Goals = SUCCESS!!

Update on my goals from New Years...

The treadmill and calorie counting are working excellent!!
Since January 4th, 2015 I have lost ...
9 lbs.
Can you say "Psyched!!"

For the most part, I've been pretty good. I do have desert but make sure I stay within my calorie limits for the day and occasionally have a cheat date, like last night.

My husband treated me to Outback Steakhouse for our date night and well, I just can't say no to a blooming onion,
and I'm still down 9 lbs :-)

I'm using the app, LoseIt! that I down loaded on to my Nook.

My other goal was to re-instate my RWA membership and join a local chapter to help advance my career as a writer and if you've been following my blog, you know that I have done both.
I was on my own for such a long time. It's good to have friends who are going through the same things I am or who have so they can mentor and help because they've already been there.
A good quote was given at our last monthly meeting in January...
'Our Tool Box is Never Full'
I agree with this completely. No matter what field we work in or just in life, we are always learning.

And don't forget if you can make it and if there are any seats still left, the Sunshine State Romance Authors is sponsoring a writers workshop on February 21st, at the Homosassa State Wildlife Park in Homosassa, Florida.
It is a paid workshop.
If interested please stop by the SSRA website:

Advancing My Success as an Author !!

Chapter # 225

YES!!!! I am a member!!!! Finally I have found the most awesome group of folks to help support, focus, chat, cry, clap, cheer, nudge, and laugh with me and my writing, to make it the career I've been looking for!!!!

SSRA is an official chapter of

To which I joined in 2006 ... WOW that was a long time ago, and reinstated my membership because I want to take my writing to the next level and as I mentioned above, I've found the folks to help me make my career what it can be!!
(especially help with my grammar & punctuation)  tee hee :-)

I found SSRA after connecting with current chapter President Dylan Newton on Google+. We connected several times over about a nine month time period and I finally made my way down to attend my first meeting as a visitor.
I was impressed by the comradery of both published and non-published authors, and the warm welcome a new comer received.

Now you can visit twice, but after that you have to make up your mind whether you want to become a member of not.
I knew after my first visit
(You do need to provide membership with RWA in order to join the chapter.)

So if you're interested in writing and you're in the Homosassa, FL. Area the meetings are typically on the 4th Saturday of every month at the public library.
You can find the meeting list on the SSRA website.

For February though, there is a Workshop on the 21st at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park.
This is a paid writer's workshop titled,
Which Publishing Path is Right for You...
Know Before You Submit.
with multi-published author Loretta C. Rogers
and will be held from 9am - 4pm.
Registration deadline is: February 18th, 2015.
To register go to:

P.S. The price goes up on February 1st.

Hope everyone has a great day and I look forward to meeting anyone who can attend!!
