The Incline Railway and Ruby Falls - Chattanooga, TN

Hey all,

So this post is about, The Incline and Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, TN.

Near the top of Look Out Mountain, it is near a 72.7% grade!

The Incline Railway has been there since 1895.

Then we went to Ruby Falls

To get to the falls you have to go down an elevator into the earth 260 feet!

Walk through a cavern, some areas a bit tight, and watch your head! Most places you can walk through pretty easily, unless you're 5'8 or taller.

               

The man who found the fall named it after his wife, Ruby.

Both places are great for adventurers and history lovers alike! I'm both by the way and so is my honey😁

I wish they gave smaller tours. I'm the kinda person who likes to take their time, take pictures, I will lay down and stretch over inclines to get the angle I want 😁, touch everything and yes, I want to explore, but you have to stay on the path 😒. Okay, Okay, I'll stay on the dang path.

I did hit my head a few times taking pictures, because you have a line of folks in your tour group behind you, and I'm sorry, I want that picture, so I was trying to rush and wasn't watching, and BOINK, on the cave wall.😧😉, it's all good. That's just me, LOL.

Chattanooga, TN - Sculpture Park

 

So, I've been making my way around the fantastic sites Chattanooga has to offer. My honey said, you've been here a year, it's time to go visit and have fun 😁, so we have, LOL.

Sculpture Park was our first stop, and is free to visit.

It was a beautiful day, people were out with each other and their dogs, walking, playing and having a great time with the Spring weather. Romance was in the air.

Although seasonal allergies hit me hard the next day from the pollen, LOL. It was a gorgeous day.

These are some of the photos I took while we were walking around. If you're ever in the Chattanooga area, I'm going to say, go take a look. From what I understand, they add and change out some sculptures every now and then, so you never know what you might see.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be blogging about Chattanooga, TN and places to visit.

I absolutely love Tennessee.

The weather has been a little off kilter, and all the locals I've talked to have agreed, it's weird this year. One day was 80, by 1 am, snow was blowing in and closed almost everything down, LOL, until the sun came out and melted most of it by 11 am.

I laugh, because although I was in Florida for 18 years. I grew up in Massachusetts. Yes, I was out driving to an appointment that had been delayed from 8 am to 11am 😁.

Fun Drink Friday - Ginger Apple Cooler

This looks like the most fantastic sipping drink during the Spring heat here in Florida.  Yes, It's starting to heat up and so Summer is on the way and, hey, more sipping drinks 😜

Ingredients:

2 oz. Crown Royal Regal Apple

1 tsp. Maple Syrup

1 tsp. lemon juice

Brooklyn Crafted Extra Spicy Ginger Beer, to fill

Garnish with Candied Ginger

Directions:

Combine Whiskey, maple syrup, lemon juice, and ice in a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously. Serve topped with ginger beer and garnish with candied ginger.

Fun Drink Friday - Raspberry Sorbet Mimosa

RASPBERRY SORBET MIMOSA

1 oz. (30ml) Citrus Vodka

Champagne

Raspberry Sorbet

PREPARATION

1. Drop in a scoop of raspberry sorbet in a champagne flute.

2. Pour in the citrus vodka and top with champagne.

Pour all ingredients into an ice filled wine glass.

Fun Drink Friday - Cherry Limeade

Cherry Limeade

My gosh does this look refreshing or what!!

With Summer right around the corner, it's already heating up in Florida.

Ingredients
One 750 ml bottle of Barefoot Pinot Grigio Wine
4 ounces cherry vodka
8 ounces frozen limeade from concentrate
1 lime sliced into thin wheels
2 cups dark sweet frozen cherries (or 2 cups fresh cherries pitted and halved)
Ginger ale

Directions
Fill a pitcher with wine, vodka and limeade concentrate
Stir and refrigerate until ready to serve
Layer rocks glasses with cherries and ice, and pour any excess cherry juice into the glasses
Pour wine mixture into each glass, and top with a splash of ginger ale

Library Week, How libraries started my LOVE of Romance books and a Special Pricing announcement

Super excited to be a part of Library week this year!!

I have loved reading since I can remember and going to the library in school to help out. Yes, I was that geek 😁 just so I could have more time and poke around the books.

In elementary school I loved digging out the books about vampires, werewolves and other creatures. Yes, it started that young 😜 they had the books out from the 1930's - 50's movies with pictures 😃 you know, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein.

Then in middle school I was old enough to walk to the town library after school and did so, scouting out anything from history books including clothing worn at different periods to pirates.

As a freshman in high school, I still found my way to the school library to help out, (until I left for another high school in the middle of my sophomore year), and the town library, and that's where I became interested 😊😋😜 in romance novels.

A fellow student a year or two above me was sitting two tables over and I kept watching as she'd smile and wondered what she was reading. So when she put the book back on the rack and left, I went over to see what gave her, that soft, dreamy smile and found what used to be called a 'Bodice Ripper' 😁 and well, my interest was born. 

Yes, I checked that book out even with the arching brow look the librarian gave me 😁😂

So yes, anything to support local library's, reading and the children who love going to them I'm all for.

Hope that look into my past wasn't to boring 😄

Fun Drink Friday - Lemon Drop *Ina Garten

Ingredients

2 cups frozen vodka
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup superfine sugar
1 lemon, thinly sliced
Ice

Combine the vodka, lemon juice, and sugar and pour into a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into martini glasses and garnish with lemon slices.

So I love Food Network and Ina Garten. Here's a little cocktail I found while surfing the Food Network website.

add 1 cup of whole milk, 

1 scoop of strawberry ice cream, 

1 drop of Vodka, and 

½ cup Baileys Rum Cream. 

Blend and serve, topped with 1 additional scoop of ice cream. 

Garnish with chocolate dipped strawberries.

Fun Drink Friday - Milk and Honey Cocktail

MILK AND HONEY COCKTAIL

Ingredients

1 1/2 ounces Benedictine (Honey Liqueur)

6 ounces milk (or enough to top off a mug) 

Garnish: slice of orange

Garnish: cinnamon

Cold

Pour Benedictine into a mug, add ice, and top with cold milk.

Garnish with a slice of orange and cinnamon.

Hot

Top Benedictine off with warm milk in a mug.

If you are going for the warm version you will want to be sure to heat your milk slowly and ​gently and stir constantly so it doesn't curdle.
