New Years Goals = SUCCESS!!

Update on my goals from New Years...

The treadmill and calorie counting are working excellent!!
Since January 4th, 2015 I have lost ...
9 lbs.
Can you say "Psyched!!"

For the most part, I've been pretty good. I do have desert but make sure I stay within my calorie limits for the day and occasionally have a cheat date, like last night.

My husband treated me to Outback Steakhouse for our date night and well, I just can't say no to a blooming onion,
and I'm still down 9 lbs :-)

I'm using the app, LoseIt! that I down loaded on to my Nook.

My other goal was to re-instate my RWA membership and join a local chapter to help advance my career as a writer and if you've been following my blog, you know that I have done both.
I was on my own for such a long time. It's good to have friends who are going through the same things I am or who have so they can mentor and help because they've already been there.
A good quote was given at our last monthly meeting in January...
'Our Tool Box is Never Full'
I agree with this completely. No matter what field we work in or just in life, we are always learning.

And don't forget if you can make it and if there are any seats still left, the Sunshine State Romance Authors is sponsoring a writers workshop on February 21st, at the Homosassa State Wildlife Park in Homosassa, Florida.
It is a paid workshop.

Advancing My Success as an Author !!

Chapter # 225

YES!!!! I am a member!!!! Finally I have found the most awesome group of folks to help support, focus, chat, cry, clap, cheer, nudge, and laugh with me and my writing, to make it the career I've been looking for!!!!

SSRA is an official chapter of

To which I joined in 2006 ... WOW that was a long time ago, and reinstated my membership because I want to take my writing to the next level and as I mentioned above, I've found the folks to help me make my career what it can be!!
(especially help with my grammar & punctuation)  tee hee :-)

I found SSRA after connecting with current chapter President Dylan Newton on Google+. We connected several times over about a nine month time period and I finally made my way down to attend my first meeting as a visitor.
I was impressed by the comradery of both published and non-published authors, and the warm welcome a new comer received.

Now you can visit twice, but after that you have to make up your mind whether you want to become a member of not.
I knew after my first visit
(You do need to provide membership with RWA in order to join the chapter.)

So if you're interested in writing and you're in the Homosassa, FL. Area the meetings are typically on the 4th Saturday of every month at the public library.
You can find the meeting list on the SSRA website.

For February though, there is a Workshop on the 21st at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park.
This is a paid writer's workshop titled,
Which Publishing Path is Right for You...
Know Before You Submit.
with multi-published author Loretta C. Rogers
and will be held from 9am - 4pm.
Registration deadline is: February 18th, 2015.
To register go to:

P.S. The price goes up on February 1st.

Hope everyone has a great day and I look forward to meeting anyone who can attend!!

New Year Goals -- RWA...

I hope everyone had a safe and happy ringing in of the new year this past week!

Although I was a little under the weather, I had a great time with my family!

In the last four days since the new year started I've already accomplished two of my goals I've set for myself.

1)  Application submitted to become a member of RWA (Romance Writers of America) ...again :-)
I was a member in 2006 - 2008 I believe, and now that I found a great chapter in my old stomping grounds, I'm all geared up :-)

2)  Obtain a treadmill and start walking three times a day.
So far I've been on it twice a day ... Hey it's not easy after not being on one for two years, even though I walk everyday at my day job :-/ huh.
LOL, oh well It's all good

Author Linnea Sinclair at SSRA

I had the pleasure of attending the Sunshine State Romance Authors meeting yesterday and being present for Ms. Linnea Sinclair's workshop on World Weaving.
I did meet her in 2009 at the RWA conference in Orlando, so I was excited to attend a smaller workshop with the SSRAIt was fabulous!! She's a great speaker and teacher!

Linnea and I

So Yes, it was a bit chilly in our neck of Florida yesterday morning LOL, hence the sweaters hehehehe. :-)
And ... I finally found someone as short as myself

There were so many awesome folks at the SSRA meeting yesterday I can't name them all, but I did take a few pics where I could (Don't mind the hair peeps, I need a trim LOL ) ...

Dylan Newton and I

(We were posing for a head shot & got a full length LOL, It's all good!)

So, Yes, I do believe these are the most photos I've posted of myself ... like... eeevvvvaaa. LOL.
Usually I'm behind the camera and happy to be there, but I had such a wonderful time yesterday I couldn't help but want to be in front of the camera with all these wonderful ladies!

Writers Supporting Writers

SSRA

Yesterday was a great day indeed! I had the pleasure of being a guest at one of the The Sunshine State Romance Authors monthly meetings.

The program was on Effective Dialogue given by Author Anna Small. Hey I don't know about you but I can always use tips, help and support for my writing.

It's nervous enough being a first time attender and with those of us with a little anxiety it doubles, LOL.

But the warmth, happiness and over all atmosphere of being with these writers, was absolutely fabulous!!
I found a lot of support and loved being welcomed with open arms and smiles.

There was even a gift give away at the end of the program.
I was one of the drawn names!!!! *Squeal*
(I never win anything! so it was very exciting!)
I won a book written by Jessica Nelson

And I will be reading it, after my grandmother.
for you see, I went to see her after the program. She is 89 years old and is recovering from a stroke. She asked if she could read it when I proudly displayed my winnings  and I never, ever say no to her.  She's just to important in my life.

So, yes, I will be returning to visit these awesome authors again. I'm looking forward to a membership with The Sunshine State Romance Authors and renewing my membership with RWA.

Sometimes the writer can lead a solitary life. It's good to know there are others out there who know what you're going through and who support you and your career, because they are living it as well.

THANKS SSRA for a great time and learning adventure!!!
